The U13 National Championships will takeover Southside Park starting on Wednesday August 23rd, and the first games will be played on Thursday August 24th.
WOODSTOCK - The best of the best in U13 baseball are coming to the Friendly City.
Woodstock Minor Baseball is hosting the National Championship at Southside Park. The festivities will start on Wednesday, August 23rd, and games start on Thursday, August 24th.
Vice President of Woodstock Minor Baseball, Brent Peltola says that being selected is something the organization does not take lightly.
"It is a prestigious honour, it is something that we have done once before. We hosted this same 13U National Championship in 2018 quite successfully."
Peltola adds that the teams involved will make for a great tournament.
"We expect that our host team is going to hold their own. Typically this tournament is dominated by the representative teams from Quebec, Ontario, and British Columbia."
He mentions that on the 23rd there will be a meet and greet for the players, along with a home run derby, where a player from every team will participate. That will be held at Southside Park and is free for anyone who wants to watch.
Once games start there will be a gate fee, and tickets can be purchased online.
If you are not able to go live and watch the games, you are in luck as there will be livestreaming for the entire tournament. Rogers TV will also have two games including the gold medal game on Sunday, August 27th.
On Thursday, August 24th from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., following the opening ceremonies, Woodstock Minor Ball is presenting a Meet and Greet with Hazel Mae and Kevin Barker at Boston Pizza.
