City Engineer Harold de Haan says a 10 percent transit fare increase will take effect on the Tuesday after Labour Day.
WOODSTOCK - The City of Woodstock is about to raise the price for public transit.
City Engineer Harold de Haan says the bus fares will be going up this September.
"As part of the budget deliberations for this year, City Council approved a 10 percent fare increase across the board for transit. We're anticipating them to go into effect on the Tuesday after Labour Day. This means the basically the fare that was $2.50 will now be $2.75."
de Haan says the transit fares will be going up for a few reasons, including the addition of a new bus route.
"We used to have six routes that serviced different areas of the city. When we added the seventh route, in order to reach some of the residential areas that weren't being served south of the Highway 401, all of the routes were adjusted to provide additional coverage all over the city.
