WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police Service are introducing something new for their front-line officers.
Body-worn cameras are a part of the latest tech to be worn by members of the WPS.
Constable Kelly Hackney explains, "These devices record audio and video during certain interactions with the public, such as traffic stops, arrests, and calls of service. We'll inform you when the camera is recording unless doing so will compromise our ability to respond."
Constable Hackney details the decision behind this.
"At the Woodstock Police Service, we are committed to transparency, accountability, and strengthening our trust with our community. That's why we have introduced body-worn cameras for our front-line officers."
Only authorized personnel will be able to access the footage when needed for investigations.
