UPDATE (May 26th @ 10:30 a.m.) - We now know why there was a heavy police presence in the area of Parkinson Road, Fyfe Ave and Pavey Street.
Woodstock Police officers responded to a person in crisis yesterday morning and they had reason to believe there may have been weapons present. College Ave Secondary School (CASS) was placed under a shelter-in-place while officers were in the area.
They searched a home on Fyfe Ave and police say eight firearms were seized along with several knives and firearm accessories. They arrested a 30-year-old man from Woodstock and charged him with careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, and breach of firearms regulations when it comes to storing a firearm or restricted weapon.
The shelter-in-place at CASS was lifted, once there was no ongoing risk to public safety.
