YFM in Woodstock has started a new campaign where they give you a quarter back from every purchase and ask you to donated it to charity.
WOODSTOCK - Your Farmers Market in Woodstock will be collecting donations for the United Way Oxford and Operation Sharing.
They will also collect funds to start a scholarship for their employee's going to school and they will have one jar open to new charities every week. Part owner of YFM Bernia Wheaton explains how this will work.
"Every time a customer visits our site, all season long, we are going to give them a quarter back, so they can be a quarterback for change and we will encourage them to donate that quarter to one of four jars right there in our market."
Wheaton says they have been amazed at the generosity from their customers who are donating way more than just the quarter they recieve back.
"We expected that most people would donate a quarter, and we assumed that the odd person would want to put in some of their own change but we are overwhelmed by the response. People are putting in loonies, toonies and ever $5 dollar bills. So far, in just our first two weeks of doing this program, we are seeing double the contributions that we expected and people have just been incredibly generous."
You can apply to be the charity of the week on the YFM web site.
