Zorra Candidate Profile - Lori McDonald

Lori McDonald would like to protect local farmland and find ways to support seniors and families as the Mayor of Zorra Township.

ZORRA - Another candidate has entered the mayoral race in Zorra Township.

Lori McDonald grew up in Oxford County, mostly in Woodstock, and moved to Zorra with her husband back in 2018.

She has been very involved in the community over the years serving her local church, delivering library books to long-term care residents, and working as a crossing guard in Thamesford for two years.

"During that time, I observed children maybe 10 or 12 crossing with their skateboards and scooters and some of them would be missing a bearing or having troubles. So I decided, because I love organizing, to host a free skatepark event for two summers in a row. I contacted sports companies and they kindly donated skateboards and scooters for prizes."

If she's elected this fall, she would like to help young families settle down in the community.

"I'd like to support ideas and services that would help families own their own home, not just these projects that are coming along that are one or two bedroom units because they're just temporary as far as I'm concerned."

McDonald would also like to protect local farmland and find ways to help seniors live independently as long as possible.

The municipal election is scheduled for October 26th.
