Police seized 38 kilograms of fentanyl through Project Golden.
ONTARIO - Police seized $5.4 million worth of drugs in a trafficking investigation that spanned several communities including Oxford County.
The OPP say Project Golden was first launched in July, 2024 in order to investigate drug trafficking activity in southwestern Ontario.
Fast forward to May 28th, 2025, where eight vehicles and 16 homes and businesses were searched in Oxford, Norfolk, Hamilton, Mississauga, Burlington, York Region and Toronto.
Officers seized 38 kilograms of fentanyl in addition to 19.5 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine, 5.5 kilograms of suspected cocaine, 34 grams of psilocybin, and 14 grams of suspected MDMA.
OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique says this is a historic bust for police in Ontario.
"Today, we announce the largest seizure of fentanyl in OPP history through Project Golden, as well as significant seizures of methamphetamine and cocaine. We are committed to working with our partners, both provincially and nationally, to stem the flow of illegal drugs in the communities we serve. This record-breaking seizure would not have been possible without the dedication of our members and partner agencies. We will continue to work closely with our judicial partners to ensure that offenders face the consequences of their actions."
Officers also uncovered three firearms (two handguns and a rifle), a prohibited weapon (brass knuckles), $121,600 in Canadian cash, and three vehicles that were determined to be offence related property.
Fifteen people face 140 charges in relation to Project Golden.
