Almost 1 year to the day when the TVDSB voted to keep A.J. Baker Public School, the school will be hosting Zorra Council.
KINTORE - A.J. Baker Public School will be hosting a Township of Zorra council meeting on Tuesday October 20th.
The school is hosting the meeting almost 1 year to the day when the TVDSB voted to keep it open after a lengthy ARC process. Councillor for Ward 3 Marcus Ryan tells Heart FM a lot has changed at the school over the past year, now that parents, students and staff don't need to worry about it staying open.
"One of the big things that we said about our school when we were trying to convince trustees to keep it open was that it was a vital part of our community, and I know in a lot of communities, some have been successful at keeping their school open and some haven't, but a lot of communities say that about their school but for us it is another example of how it really is true for us."
Repairs and upgrades have been made, the school configuration has been changed and attendance is up at the school. The council meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. and students will get a chance to sit in for a portion of it to get an idea of what a municipal government does.
