As 2019 comes to a close for the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock, Mayor Don McKay says one of their goals next year is to hold talks with the City of Woodstock on a boundary adjustment agreement.
EAST ZORRA-TAVISTOCK - This year saw a few new things introduced in the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock.
Mayor Don McKay says among them included hiring Karen DePrest as the new CAO.
"She has brought excellent treasury skills, which we were lacking, and has really been the cheerleader pulling all our staff together. And that's always good news for the great pairs when you've got keen, engaged staff."
McKay adds the uncertainty of the regional review this past year did put some things on hold.
In addition to hiring a new CAO, the Township also completed Maplewood Sideroad.
He says one the Township's goals going into the new year will be a fully engaged boundary discussion with the City of Woodstock.
He says the Township is need of growth.
"So we'll be looking to grow our boundaries in Innerkip and possibly Tavistock and as Woodstock needs to grow theirs, that'll necessitate a boundary adjustment. So it's an open process, we look forward to public input."
McKay adds as they look ahead to next year's budget, they'll be looking at a possible new administration building and public works facility.
