With the current measles outbreak, Woodstock Hospital is adding precautions to one unit.
WOODSTOCK - Additional precautions are being taken at Woodstock Hospital.
As a result of the ongoing measles exposures, Woodstock Hospital is changing the visiting conditions in the Maternal Child Women's Health Unit. Starting tomorrow only 2 essential caregivers will be allowed during labour and delivery. There are 6 guidelines that come with trying to prevent any more possible measles exposures. The 6 guidelines are as follows.
1. Essential caregivers are defined as the individuals who will provide direct support to patients during labour and delivery. This can include the patient’s partner, a family member, or a support person.
2. No additional visitors will be permitted during the patient’s stay. This includes children and other family and friends.
3. If a patient or any of their caregivers are showing signs of illness, they are urged to please contact the Maternal Child Women’s Health Unit at extension 4210 before their arrival so we can safely prepare for their visit.
4. All patients and visitors must wear a mask upon arrival to the unit and anytime they are outside of the patient’s room on the MCWH Unit.
5. If patients are coming for an outpatient appointment, they can only bring one (1) essential caregiver. If they are admitted, a second caregiver will be allowed.
6. Vaccines are always strongly recommended. which include the patient’s partner, a family member, or a support person.
The Hospital appreciates the cooperation and understanding of the patients and their families as they
implement measures to keep our most vulnerable patients safe.
