The expanded Child Care Centre at Algonquin Public School will provide an additional 34 child care spaces once it opens next month.
WOODSTOCK - The expansion of the Child Care Centre in Woodstock will be completed next month.
The $1.5 million project is expected to wrap up in May. This will provide child care spaces for additional 34 children. After the work is done Algonquin Public School will have room for up to 10 infants, 15 toddlers and 40 preschoolers. Local MPP Ernie Hardeman says this project was done to address the child care shortages in Woodstock.
“Parents across Oxford rely on quality child care to support and look after their children while they work, study, or run a business. These new child care spaces are great news for Woodstock and will make life easier for more families in our community – especially at this important time.”
Education Minister Stephen Lecce says safe and affordable high-quality child care helps prepare young children for academic success.
“By investing in the expansion of the Child Care Centre at Algonquin Public School, our government is delivering real support for rural communities and Woodstock families. To make child care more affordable, our government also announced a 20 per cent top up to Ontario’s Child Care Tax Credit, saving a family on average $1,500 per year.”
The expanded Child Care Centre, operated by Good Beginnings Day Nursery, is anticipated to be open in Spring 2021.
