The Children's Aid Society has completed their largest launch placing trees at 4 locations within the County
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County's largest Angel Tree Campaign Launch ever has been a huge hit.
What was put on by the Children's Aid Society, they made stops at 4 locations around the county to spread the awareness. Owner of Giant Tiger Woodstock, Bob Armstrong, was pleased to have a tree when asked by CAS. "We just put up a tree and hopefully it gets filled for the kids in need for Christmas. Last year it was so enthusiastic by everybody that we wanted to do it again. It's important to make sure that the community is aware, that there are people out there in need, and to make sure everybody gets taken care of this time of the year for sure, and realize what Children's Aid does for people out there." One of the most popular people at all the locations was Santa Claus who made a special trip from the North Pole to help with the cause.
Owner of Tremblett's Independent Grocer in Ingersoll, Jessie Tremblett, explains why they chose to take part. "We just want everyone to have a great Christmas for kids who can't afford it or maybe your less fortunate than us, we want to help them out as much as we can. We hope everyone gives a little bit during the holidays for the little kids and the teenagers so it is a great success."
Coordinator of Development for the Children's Aid Society Ron Archer was on hand at all 4 locations and talks about the support they have received. "The support has been awesome! It is important to support the kids in the community, in Oxford County, and we needed this big launch. I felt it was proper to be here to help everybody out. It will spread it out to Oxford County, instead of just Woodstock, so now we are in Ingersoll and Tillsonburg so it spreads it around throughout the community. It is nice to have the help from all of Oxford." Tremblett's Independent Grocer in Ingersoll, Sobey's in Tillsonburg, Giant Tiger in Woodstock, and the CAS main office on Peel Street in Woodstock were all the locations Angel Trees have been placed. The public will have until the 1st part of December to take part in the initiative.
