Non profits in Oxford County can apply for grant funding through the 2021 Oxford Economic Stimulus Fund.
OXFORD COUNTY - Grant Applications are now open for the 2021 Oxford Economic Stimulus Fund.
The fund is administered by Community Futures Oxford in collaboration with Oxford Connection. The Oxford Economic Stimulus Fund provides local businesses with flexible loans to restart businesses closed during the pandemic, revitalize downtown cores, support tourism and hospitality operators and more.
Right now they are accepting grant applications to help non profits and business support organizations recover from the effects of the pandemic. General Manager for Community Futures Oxford Allan Simm says they are here to help any businesses struggling right now.
"It is vital that we continue to take an active role in supporting small business through COVID-19 and help support them on the road to recovery. In particular, the many small businesses that have been mandated to close or offer reduced levels of operation during the pandemic. The Oxford Economic Stimulus Fund takes a responsive, time-sensitive approach to economic recovery to meet the unique needs of our local businesses and agencies."
The 2021 grants will be disbursed in two intakes with applications for the first one due by February 26th. Applications for the second intake are due April 30th.
They will give out $45,000 during each in take for a total of $90,000 available for 2021. Funding is provided for up to 85% of total project costs. Priority will be given to project applications that align with the following fund priorities:
- Promote the consumption of local goods and services
- Revitalise businesses in the downtown cores
- Prop up tourism/hospitality operators
- Directly support recovery efforts of small businesses
- Capacity development
Warden Larry Martin says this program is needed right now.
"The County recognizes that our local economy needs and will continue to need support to recover from the many effects of COVID-19. This is why, in the spring of 2020, we forged a partnership with Community Futures Oxford and Oxford Connection to offer the stimulus fund and help businesses support jobs, economic activity, and the overall health and wellbeing of our community."
