Graduating students have until May 18th to apply for the Friends of the Woodstock Art Gallery Legacy Scholarship. It includes a $1,000 bursary to go towards post-secondary art education.
OXFORD COUNTY - Applications are now open for the Friends of the Woodstock Art Gallery Legacy Scholarship.
The Visual Arts Scholarship was established in 1990. Since then, the WAG awards one lucky student in Oxford County a $1,000 bursary to go towards post-secondary tuition each year.
Communications Coordinator Robin De Angelis says students from any art field can apply.
"It's not just looking at traditional visual art. It could extend to electronic media or computer-generated art. Anything that kind of falls under the arts overall."
Students will have to complete some tasks before they apply. An acceptance letter from a post-secondary institution and a letter of recommendation from a community member are at the top of the list.
De Angelis added that students will also be required to write a one-page artist statement to highlight themselves and their artwork.
"It must include what work they are interested in, why they want to pursue studies in the arts, and what kind of artwork they are currently creating."
Applicants are also required to submit a headshot with their applications. The deadline to apply is May 18th and to learn more about the scholarship or to apply, click here.
