UPATE: At Least 18 Killed in Maine Shooting

Police say gunman opened fire in a restaurant and a bowling alley last night

LEWISTON - A manhunt is underway after a shooting killed at least 18 people in Lewiston, Maine, and injured 13 more.

Police say a gunman opened fire at a restaurant and a bowling alley last night. The two venues are about six kilometres apart from each other.

A police bulletin says Robert Card has been identified as a person of interest in this case. He was trained as a firearms instructor at a United States Army Reserve facility in Maine and he was committed to a mental health facility this summer.

Shelter-in-place orders remain in place for Lewiston and nearby Lisbon as the manhunt continues.

Maine Governor Janet Mills spoke at a press conference this morning, saying Card should be considered armed and dangerous.

The news has also prompted Canada Border Services Agency to warn officers along the Canada-U.S. border to be on the lookout for Card.
