Bieber Charged

The pop star faces dangerous driving and assault charges near Stratford

PERTH COUNTY - Pop star Justin Bieber has a date in a Stratford courtroom later this month.

The 20 year old has been charged in relation to a collision and physical altercation in Perth County over the weekend.

OPP say it happened shortly before 3pm Friday when a mini van and ATV collided on Line 40 east of Road 106.

The investigation revealed that after colliding, the driver of the ATV and an occupant of the minivan engaged in a physical altercation.

Justin Bieber is now facing charges of dangerous driving, and assault.

He will appear in court September 29.

In a release from Bieber's lawyer, Brian Greenspan, he says Bieber's camp is pointing the blame at the paparazzi for the latest run-in with the law.  Greenspan said Bieber was on a "peaceful retreat" with Selena Gomez  when they were unfortunately disrupted by what he calls "the unwelcomed presence of the paparazzi."

Greenspan noted that Bieber and Gomez are cooperating with the OPP.

Police have not stated which vehicle Bieber was operating but photos that have been posted online show the Canadian pop star and his on and off again girlfriend riding on an ATV together.
