Approximately 150 thank you notes from Big Brothers Big Sisters have to be sent out again after a post box fire.
WOODSTOCK - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Woodstock will have to resend about 150 thank you letters after getting a plastic bag full of burnt mail from Canada Post.
The bag included a letter from Canada Post who apologized and said there was nothing they could do as it was out of their control.
The charity organization believes somebody tossed a cigarette butt in the their community mail box causing the problem. Case worker and fundraising marketing assistant Kristen Ralph tells Heart FM they think most of the mail was thank you letters, however they can't really tell. "It's unfortunate because we sent out about 150 thank you's, plus other mail and as a charity that is a big cost to us to send out those letters and unfortunately we will have to do that again." Each thank you card costs about $1 to send.
Ralph says they are asking anyone who was expecting mail from the charity organization to give them a call and they will be resending out those thank you letters.
Some of the mail that was only partially burnt was delivered.
