$8,000 was awarded to Big Brothers Big Sisters at Spin4Kids on behalf of GoodLife Fitness.
WOODSTOCK - Saturday morning GoodLife Fitness held there annual Spin4Kids which brought different organizations and groups together and were on hand to watch Big Brothers Big Sisters accept a cheque for $8,000. Co-President of Big Brothers Big Sisters Cherie Palmer explained how the process unfolded."This is absolutely fabulous. GoodLife Fitness nominated Big Brothers Big Sisters as part of their foundation and we were one of 10 finalists across Canada. It was based on voting and we were awarded $8,000 as part of the $100,000 that was given out to the 10 finalists across Canada."
Palmer discussed where the money raised will be going "It goes towards two programs one is Go Girls and the other is Game On and these are programs that we run in the schools for basically 11-14 year old girls and boys. We have a waiting list at schools who want the program so this $8,000 will provide at least 2-3 more schools who will be involved in those programs."
Group Program and Volunteer Coordinator for BBBS James Rijneveld went into detail how the money will benefit the kids. "It is all about keeping the kids active and these programs are really for kids during the middle school years 11-14 years of age. It teaches them how to deal with stress, how teach them about self esteem, it is helping them have different tools in their belt to keep active, have fun, and learn how to strategize in a group and a lot of other different things." $50,000 was the number to achieve Saturday morning for GoodLife Fitness while members of groups and organizations were getting an extensive workout for over 5 hours.
