The Juno nominated rock band will perform a free concert in Southside Park on August 9th.
WOODSTOCK - The headliner has been announced for this year's Cowapalooza in Woodstock.
Kristen Broadhagen, the Manager of Special Events for the City, says Big Wreck will perform a free concert in Southside Park on Saturday August 9th.
"With their unique brand of heavy-hitting live rock, Big Wreck will close out two exhilarating days of music and family-friendly entertainment! We’re so excited to welcome attendees from Woodstock and beyond for another spectacular event as Cowapolooza marks its 22nd year."
Big Wreck is a Juno nominated rock band and their hit singles include That Song, Blown Wide Open, The Oaf, and Albatross.
The music will start at 6:00 p.m. that evening. The City has lined up Harm & Ease and The Joel Dupuis Band as the opening acts, and everything should wrap up by 10:00 p.m.
There will also be live music in Southside Park on Friday August 8th. The free evening will be country music themed with Coty Robinson, Ryan Langdon and Outlaw State of Mind, a Chris Stapleton tribute band. Everything should get started at 6:00 p.m.
Cowapalooza Kids will also be making a comeback this year. It will be running from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the Saturday and will feature inflatables, outdoor games, a photobooth and even some pro wrestling matches.
There will be a variety of marketplace vendors and food trucks on site throughout the weekend as well.
Broadhagen says they're hoping to make the festival more sustainable this year.
"We’re encouraging attendees to bring their own reusable water bottles and reusable bags for shopping, as well as take eco-friendly transportation to the park with a free shuttle bus and on-site bike valet."
They're also looking for some volunteers to help with those efforts.
"We’re looking for volunteers to join our new Green Team to help guests sort recyclables and garbage at our waste stations."
