A community minded woman is being remembered at a special bowl-a-thon supporting several local charities.
WOODSTOCK - A bowl-a-thon is being planned to help several local causes in memory of a very special lady.
Frances Laybolt was an avid bowler, winning hundreds of trophies and medals in the Special Olympics for her skill. Last December she passed away suddenly due to a blood clot.
To honour her memory, the 'Bowl in Her Shoes' event is being planned. Her niece, Donna King says her aunt was a warm, friendly person who did a lot of good in our community. "She was a vivid volunteer for Operation Sharing, she helped in the Soup Kitchen, she bowled three times a week at C & D Lanes, she had three wonderful kids she left behind. She would do anything for anybody."
To recognize Laybolt's passions, the funds from this event will be going to three causes: "The fundraiser is for Operation Sharing, Special Olympics because that's the team she was on, and she passed away from a blood clot that nobody knew was happening. So this is our way of saying we loved her and we're going to continue with her memory," King says.
The event is on Saturday December the 12th from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. at C & D Lanes. Tickets are $20 and you can bowl for the full two hours. The night also includes door prizes, a 50/50 draw, a penny sale, and a silent auction.
Tickets can be bought by contacting Shiloh (519-535-3797), Donna (519-272-7939), or Aaron (519-535-7720)
