Norwich Township Council has given the greenlight to the Burgessville Santa Claus Parade. It's currently scheduled for Saturday December 18th at 6:30 p.m. but it's all depending on the state of the pandemic.
BURGESSVILLE - The Burgessville Santa Claus Parade is a go this year.
They will be having the parade on Saturday December 18th, starting at 6:30 p.m. One of the organizers Dave Topham says they're still in the early planning stages.
"We will start at the new subdivision on the west side of Burgessville, go right down Highway 59 into Malcolm's Excavating, he has let us use his yard for the finish."
Topham did say this is all depending on the state of the pandemic.
"There was a letter sent to us from council, stating at this time that yes, we can have a parade, but it can be rescinded at any time, due to COVID issues."
Any updates will be posted to the Burgessville Santa Claus Parade & Events Facebook page. There will be no parade after party this year, but Topham says they're hoping to bring it back for the 2022 event.
The three main centres in Oxford County will not be having traditional parades this year. Woodstock, Ingersoll and Tillsonburg made that decision a couple of months ago.
In Tillsonburg, a group of volunteers is looking to plan something and in Ingersoll, they plan on having the drive through event once again, where Santa will try to hit every street in the town.
