Egypt, Malawi and Nigeria have been added to the travel ban over concerns around the Omicron variant.
Canada is adding three additional countries to the travel ban over concerns around the Omicron variant.
Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos made the announcement this afternoon. Effective immediately, Egypt, Malawi and Nigeria have been added to the list of 7 South African nations under the travel ban.
Minister Duclos also announced that all air travelers coming into Canada will have to be tested upon arrival and isolate until results come in. For now, Canada is making an exception for travelers coming from the United States. As of this writing, there have been no confirmed cases of Omicron in the US.
Duclos did say he will be speaking with the Provinces about how they can set up testing requirements at the US border if the testing restrictions are needed.
