Team Canada will now face Switzerland in the semifinals, after celebrating a 3-2 overtime win over Sweden in quarterfinal action last night.
BRAMPTON - It was a close one, but Team Canada was able to celebrate a 3-2 overtime win over Sweden in the quarterfinals of the IIHF Women's World Championship in Brampton.
Sarah Nurse scored her second goal of the game 4:26 into overtime to secure the win. Blayre Turnbull scored the first goal for Canada in the first period and Emerance Maschmeyer finished the night with 12 saves.
This means Oxford County's Ella Shelton and the rest of Team Canada will now face Switzerland in the semifinals tomorrow. That game should begin at 4:00 p.m.
