Carmeuse Lime & Stone has donated two outdoor classrooms to Southside Public School and Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys in Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK - Southside Public School in Woodstock held a special celebration today in regards to their brand new outdoor classroom.
Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch was on hand to help them cut the ribbon on their brand new outdoor classroom this morning. Carmeuse Lime & Stone has donated two outdoor classrooms to Southside and the Catholic School Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys.
Carmeuse Beachville’s Jeff Geddes, Ken Zegers and Ben Parayankuzhiyil took the lead on the project, directing construction from start to finish. Each classroom was constructed using Carmeuse materials by Carmeuse employees and local contractors. Ken Zegers says they were happy to help out such a worthwhile project.
"The outdoor classrooms are an opportunity for students to get outside and learn in a different environment on a beautiful day."
Students from the Southside School's environment group helped to beautiful the classroom by planting and caring for flowers. Zegers says that the classrooms were designed to create a circle, promoting discussion and collaborative
