Today's event will see Olympian and Amazing Race Canada finalist Sarah Wells and her team lead all grade 10 students in a full-day workshop.
WOODSTOCK - Olympian and Amazing Race Canada Finalist Sarah Wells is at College Avenue Secondary School today for the Believe Initiative.
The Believe Initiative is a movement dedicated to driving success and confidence in youth, teaching them the importance of resiliency and self-belief.
Principal Tiffany Birtch says over 260 students will welcome her and her team.
"Students will have an opportunity to, actually from this event today, create their own Believe passion projects. So moving forward over the coming weeks, we will have a number of in-school presentations in which students will work on selecting their projects, building confidence, talking about stress management, resilience and affirmation."
Birtch adds Wells will serve as the keynote speaker and she'll return in April to wrap up the initiative.
It is a full day workshop that is built on last year's themes from the GROW Girls and Men of Quality campaigns. Throughout the day, students will be involved in a couple of workshops, along with being involved in a Passion Project Discovery and participating in a student survey.
To follow up, the CASS Knights will be taking part in several learning sessions, which will culminate in an Inspiration Fair when Wells and her team return on April 22nd.
Birtch says the goal is to give students the opportunity to develop the resiliency and understand they have the power and ability to overcome obstacles.
"It is unbelievable that we have this opportunity for Sarah Wells to come to CASS. It wouldn't be possible without the support of Thames Valley of course and RBC, and all of the commitment that Sarah herself has to developing our future citizens and inspiring them to be resilient and lead with positive impact."
The RBC also participated in this morning's presentation that featured the event's ambassadors.
The event started at 8:45 this morning and wraps up this afternoon at 2:30.
