Brant County is encouraging residents to participate in activities for Earth Day while at home, including a Family clean up challenge and learning how to make a bird feeder from recycled materials you have at your house.
BRANT COUNTY - The County of Brant is asking residents to take part in Earth Day activities from home.
Mayor David Bailey says they will continue to mark Earth Week from April 20-24.
“April 22, 2020 marks the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day. This is a milestone worth celebrating. Due to COVID-19, we have postponed our tree planting and clean-up events. However, there are a number of things each citizen can do to help the earth and keep our community healthy and beautiful.”
Starting tomorrow, a variety of at-home earth friendly activities will be shared on the County of Brant’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @BrantCommunity) and on their website. As well, information about composting, how to recycle and other friendly tips will be shared.
Below is an example of upcoming Earth Day activities we encourage you and your family to participate in:
- Family clean up challenge (on your own property)
- Disconnect to Reconnect. Unplug from technology and plug into time together.
- Learn how to make a bird feeder from recycled materials you have at home.
- And more.
We’d love to see how you celebrate Earth day/week. Share your photos with us on our social channels or email socialmedia@brant.ca.
On April 24th, 2020 at noon, four photos will be chosen at random. The winners (must be County of Brant residents) will receive either a rain barrel or a composter. County staff will deliver this to your property, while practicing physical distancing.
Spring clean-up of parks and public spaces is underway. To help keep the County beautiful, staff will be picking up litter in parks and ditches and performing spring maintenance activities. Please dispose of your waste properly and help keep our community healthy.
