NORWICH TOWNSHIP - The Oxford OPP is investigating after a school bus left the road and entered a ditch in Norwich Township.
Officers were called out to Old Stage Road, close to Middletown Line, shortly before 9:00 a.m. today.
Police say there were approximately 40 elementary students on the bus at the time and four of them had to be taken to hospital with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Sergeant Ed Sanchuk had this to say in a video posted on the OPP West Region X page this morning.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the good samaritans that stopped to provide assistance to all of the students this morning and all of these kids. As a parent, you made a very difficult situation just a little bit easier. I understand that some of our first responders, firefighters, and paramedics may have had children on that bus and as a father, your heart sinks when you see something like this first thing in the morning."
Police have closed the crash site for the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information should call the Oxford OPP at 1-888-310-1122. You can also submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
