Woodstock Hospital celebrated Earth Day by showcasing some of the amazing ways you can go green at home.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock General Hospital celebrated Earth Day by showcasing some of their efforts to go green today.
Woodstock Hospital is the first health care facility in Ontario achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver status. Director of Capital Projects Christopher Marion explains what they were doing in the cafeteria this morning.
"We like to use Earth Day to kind of explain some of the good things we are doing here, such as our organic waste and even our energy conservation programs. This year we really wanted to focus on how people can develop that sustainable culture at home."
Marion says their are all kinds of Government incentives to help you go green.
"So we are going through the Green ON program, the Hydro One save on energy and the Union Gas home Reno program, they have different ways people can save on their utility bills, it can also save on the cost of the actual implementation through some funding as well as really just help the environment."
Woodstock Hospital is a Green Hospital of the Year finalist and has won the Recycling Council of Ontario Award for outstanding results in recycling and waste diversion.
The Woodstock Hospital Environmental Advisory Committee has invited representatives from our various vendors to share their green initiatives in our cafeteria on Earth Day. Other stewards of environmental responsibility were at the hospital as well to share their expertise and stewardship, including Oxford County, the City of Woodstock, Hydro One and Union Gas.
