The Woodstock Police Service wanted to give a special shout out to the Auxiliary Unit during National Volunteer Week.
WOODSTOCK - It's National Volunteer week and volunteers across Oxford County are being recognized for their contributions.
The Woodstock Police Service wanted to give a special shout out to the Auxiliary Unit. They put in about 4,000 volunteer hours every year and Woodstock actually has the highest number of auxiliary volunteer hours in the Province. Constable Nikki Vanleeuwen says you will often see our auxiliary officers around town at different events.
"We rely on them heavily for Community Service work, you will see them at parades doing traffic and at almost every event in Woodstock, they are there with a smile and keeping our community safe, helping our community and being an ambassador for the service. Our members put in 4000 volunteer hours every year, which is amazing and provincially we actually have the highest number of auxiliary hours that our unit puts in, in the province."
She says they really are a great team and they have a lot of fun together and enjoy what they are doing which helps make the program successful.
