"It requires many partners to collaborate...unless we all work together achieving this goal will just be a dream."
WOODSTOCK - The second annual Future Oxford Expo is happening today at the Aud in Woodstock.
Things get started at 9 a.m. and the free event will run until 6. The Future Oxford Expo showcases local successes and leadership in taking environmental action and building a vibrant economy. Dr Chih C. Chao with Cantech Environmental Services is one of the guest speakers this year. He is a trained chemical and environmental engineer and tells Heart FM he will talking about ways to achieve the Oxford County Zero Waste goal.
"It is not that easy because it requires many partners to collaborate with each other: government, industry, research, academia, and the community - unless we all work together achieving this goal will just be a dream."
This year's event will also feature keynote speaker Milfred Hammberbacher who's the Co-Founder and CEO of s23 Technologies Inc. He will speak about sustainable communities and progress on London West 5, s2e’s partnership with Sifton to create the largest SMART community in North America
We will also get an address from Doug Yates, Director - Environment & Energy for GM Canada, who will discuss GM’s goal of 100% renewable energy across all manufacturing facilities by 2050.
They will also have an electric vehicle showcase at the event and you might even get a chance to test drive a Tesla.
Like last year this year’s event is being planned as a “zero waste” event through the use of recycled and recyclable material.
