There will be 6 individuals and 2 teams inducted into the Woodstock Sports Wall of Fame. The ceremony happens Saturday, September 23rd.
WOODSTOCK - Local athletes are going to be honoured in Woodstock.
On Saturday, September 23rd the Woodstock Wall of Fame will be adding more names, with the ceremony starting at 1:30 p.m. at Southwood Arena.
Councilor, Mark Schadenberg, who is involved with the event speaks to what is looked for when finding inductees.
"So, the criteria basically is we would hope for a significant athletic accomplishment, they might say that's pretty darn vague, but you have to be a provincial champion, or be competing at the highest level as a professional in your sport."
Schadenberg states there are other categories including, long-term builder of sport, historic, and the most recent addition is special recognition.
He adds, how many inductees will be added.
"This year we have 3 females, 3 males being inducted, and two teams. Both are WCI teams and both are from the 1990-91 school year."
Schadenberg adds the majority of the guests that will be in attendance are family and friends of the inductees.
