What used to be known as Mothers With The Heart for Ethiopia is now going by Hearts for Ethiopia.
OXFORD COUNTY - A major change is coming for a local organization.
What used to be known as Mothers With The Heart for Ethiopia is now going by Hearts for Ethiopia. Founder Shelley Green says there is a new direction for the organization.
"So, we made the big decision to become a registered charity. So, we're in the midst of applying to become a registered charity and making all the changes that are required around that to be on our own."
With the work of becoming a registered charity, they are now focusing on 3 projects to help fund. Those projects are: Tesfa's Shelter, Wellness for Women, and Prolapsed Uterus Surgeries. Green goes on to say why the name change took place.
"We looked at our name and for quite a long time now, Mothers with the Heart of Ethiopia, 1 is a big mouthful, and secondly, sometimes people would say to me, well, you know, I'm not a mother, but I'd like to get involved."
You can help raise money to support women and children in Ethiopia by ordering a gift bag that is filled with locally made goods. You can find out more on the Hearts for Ethiopia website.
