For the second time this week, a poppy donation box is stolen in Simcoe

For the second time this week, a poppy donation box has been stolen in Simcoe.

This time, it happened Wednesday night, at around 10:30, at the Wendy's restaurant. A man removed the poppy box from the counter and fled in an unknown direction.

He's described as a white male, 40 years of age, 5’4, short brown hair, scruffy in appearance, and was wearing a green military style jacket.

Constable Ed Sanchuk with Norfolk OPP says, "Our veterans have played such an integral role in Canadian history and society, and this act of theft is very disturbing. The OPP are seeking the public’s assistance with this investigation. If anyone has any information regarding this incident or if they can identify the suspect, they are being asked to contact the Norfolk County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122."

A similar incident happened Monday, at around midnight at a Tim Horton's location in Simcoe.

Last week, a breast cancer donation box was stolen from a Credit Union in Simcoe, but a suspect was arrested the next day.
