A St. George homeowner will have to pay a $360 fine for not having smoke or carbon monoxide alarms in their home.
ST. GEORGE - A St. George homeowner is facing a hefty fine for not having smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in their home.
They will have to pay $360 after fire officials responded to a fire at their house recently.
The landlord has also pled guilty to one count of failing to install a smoke alarm and one count of failing to install a carbon monoxide alarm.
Brant County Fire Chief Michael Seth stresses the importance of checking your alarms.
"When a smoke alarm sounds, you may only have one to two minutes to escape. Every second counts."
Brant County Fire Department would like to remind homeowners that alarms have to be outside of all of the sleeping areas in the home. Smoke alarms also have to be present on every level.
