Cindy Allen is one of 12 people in the race for a seat on Tillsonburg Town Council.
TILLSONBURG - The race is on for a seat on Tillsonburg Town Council.
Cindy Allen is one of 12 candidates fighting for 6 seats. Allen is originally from the GTA and has lived in town for 3 years, getting involved in education and crime prevention.
Allen has a couple of key issues that she is focusing on during her campaign.
"One is Crime Prevention, the other one is service improvement, in service improvement, I have broken it down into efficiency and communication. Efficiency is because we need to get better with the dollars we have, we have become more efficient, tighten our belt and find some alternative ways to address the deficit in our community. The other part is communication and one of the things I have been hearing back from residents is they really don't know who to call for what."
Allen says another problem is people leaving town to shop.
"If we want to fund some of our services and programs and bring new things to our community, again it goes back to efficiency and how do we do that. Why are we going out of town, let's get some of the things we are leaving town for here, we are going to increase our business, we are going to increase our jobs and it is going to make the town more attractive for people to live in."
Allen is not using lawn signs for this campaign because Oxford County has a net zero waste reduction strategy and she wants to stick to that. She has launched a web site which you can visit here.
