Council agreed to provide an extra $250 000 to help move the LED conversion program forward.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Council is ready to move forward with a five phase LED conversion program.
They agreed to provide an additional $250 000 to the 2015 Capital Budget for the completion of the detailed design and tender documents for the LED conversion. City Engineer Harold De Haan tells Heart FM they still have a lot of work to do before they can actually start changing light bulbs.
"The next step will be to actually complete the design. The report that we had looked at standard road sections however it did not look at specific areas such as intersections and other roads that will meet our cross sections. So we have to complete that design and from that design develop the tender package with plans and specs to get the work done and then it will go out to tender."
De Haan says that the lights will end up paying for themselves after 8 years because of the savings on energy costs to the City.
