Plans for the Burgess Park/Standard Tube lands could start to be formed later this year. On Thursday night, Woodstock City Council approved $60,000 to allow the Upper Thames Conservation Authority to conduct a Master Plan study on the lands. Ownership of the 227 acres of land in the city's northwest are split between the city and Upper Thames. It was the site of a contentious battle a few years ago when Sally Creek wanted to build another 9-holes for its golf course on the land. While the land will likely be reforested, with some nature trails, City Parks Director Brian Connors says the public will have a say in the matter. "There will be time for public meetings. Some of the findings, the assessments will be looked at; there is a communication plan for and after those meetings as well". The draft Master Plan will be developed over the course of the next several months, with public input likely in the fall.
