Oxford County council has given the green light for more construction on the north Shore of Pittock that will include almost 700 units and a parcel of land for an elementary school.
WOODSTOCK - Almost 700 housing units will be going up on the north shore of Pittock Lake now that the County has given their approval to the builder’s planning application.
Woodstock City council gave the go ahead last week. The units, which will be located just west of the golf course on County Road 17 will contain 319 single family units, 162 townhouses and 164 apartments.
Now that permission has been granted, construction should start shortly. The site will also set aside a parcel of land for an elementary school.
Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch says the new facility will ease crowding at other schools.
Birtch says currently a number of students are being bused to Hickson Central school and that school is at capacity. Other students are being bused to Central School downtown. Birtch adds that the Thames Valley District School board is keeping a close eye on “the growth in our community.”
Birtch says with all of the approvals in place building permits will be issued shortly.
