With rumours of a high speed rail system circling, the county is looking at how connected our communities really are.
OXFORD COUNTY - The province is expected to announce a plan for a high speed rail system later this year. Some people are worried certain Oxford residents will be left out if they don't have access to this rail system.
Warden David Mayberry says another concern is the price of this new rail system.
"If the province puts all of their money into a high speed rail, there would be nothing left to help with inter-community bus, improving VIA Rail, or anything like that."
In response, the county has created a detailed report with information about the current transportation system and improvements that can be made. Warden David Mayberry gives us the details.
"If you in fact enhance the inter-community transportation system so everybody can connect somewhere to a high speed system, it would make sense. If you did it properly it might actually prevent having to build the high speed system at all."
This proposed high speed rail system would have a designated line that would take passengers from Toronto, through Kitchener and London to Windsor.
