The Woodstock Police Service continues to make sure the city is safe for the residents who use the streets and businesses.

WOODSTOCK - Police have laid charges after an altercation in Woodstock.

Officers were called to a business on Dundas Street on Thursday morning after a report of an assault. It was determined that a man entered a business despite previously being trespassed from the property.  
The man became aggressive toward an employee who asked him to leave.  The man kicked and spat and even hit the employee with a metal sign. 

As a result, a 40-year-old from Woodstock is facing a charge of assault, assault with a weapon, and enter premise when entry prohibited.

WOODSTOCK - One person has been charged after a traffic stop in Woodstock.

Police stopped a rental vehicle on Thursday on College Ave, and it was confirmed that the passenger in the vehicle was wanted on outstanding warrants held by other police services. The passenger was arrested, and a subsequent investigation led officers to locate suspected crystal methamphetamine. 

As a result, a 38-year-old Woodstock man is facing a charge of possession of a schedule I substance – Methamphetamine.

WOODSTOCK - Charges have been laid in a crash involving a motorcycle in Woodstock.  

It happened in the area of Warwick Street and Cambridge Street, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. 

Police say multiple people witnessed the motorcyclist travelling at a high rate of speed before losing control and crashing onto the lawn of a nearby residence.  He attempted to leave, but residents in the area stopped him until police arrived.

The 29-year-old has been charged with Dangerous operation, Failure to stop after an accident, and driving a motor vehicle without a licence.

WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police are once again reminding drivers out there to lock it or lose it.

Police say they received a report on Sunday at 9:30 a.m.: someone broke into a vehicle at a business on Houser’s Lane. They stole a wallet, which contained cash, bankcards, identification, and other personal items.

As a result of the investigation, a 46-year-old man from Woodstock was arrested on Monday in the area of Peel Street and Wilson Street and charged with theft under $5,000 and use of a credit card.

WOODSTOCK - A Woodstock man is facing impaired driving charges in his hometown.

Police responded to a suspected impaired driver at around 9 last Sunday night and later found the vehicle in question parked at a residence on Caen Avenue with the driver asleep behind the wheel.

After investigating the matter, Woodstock Police charged a 49-year-old with operation while impaired and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80.

He was also charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
