The race for Ward 3 in Zorra Township has a name put forward for the upcoming municipal election.
ZORRA TOWNSHIP - Ward 3 in Zorra Township has a council candidate.
Michael Kukhta is recently retired and is looking to become more involved in his community. Kukhta explains why now is the time to run for council.
"I would say that I want to contribute to my community, which is until recently I was a professor at Conestoga. I'm at a point now where I have some time and energy to actually run and contribute. I'd like to take a shot at trying to improve the place around here."
Kukhta worked as a mechanical engineer in the automotive and aerospace industries and would be eager to work with Zorra council on reviewing the Oxford County Official Plan as well as tackling issues with affordability.
"When you talk to folks, it is issues with affordability, especially seniors; they are on a fixed income, and often they can't get around in rural places. The only way to go is to go into town to shop for groceries. Transportation for seniors and even young folks around rural areas are a big one."
Residents will head to the polls on Monday, October 26th, 2026.
