United Way Oxford has begun the 2026 Supplies4Students campaign to help support those who need help getting back-to-school supplies.
OXFORD COUNTY - United Way Oxford has kicked off their 2026 Supplies4Students campaign.
This initiative takes monetary donations and turns them into gift cards, which will help students and their families be able to purchase the necessary back-to-school items they need. Giant Tiger, Staples or Dollarama are the stores where the gift cards will come from.
United Way Oxford has a goal this year to distribute gift cards to 1,400 students, as it supported 1,382 students last year. Executive Director Kelly Gilson says how long the program has been going.
“For over a decade, our community partners have been promoting this program as a more intentional, more appropriate and more dignified model of support. It allows families to purchase what they actually need and provides children with the classic ‘back-to-school’ shopping experience that is part of the fun and excitement experienced by so many.”
Gilson adds that this program is so important to so many people within the community.
“Back-to-school is an expensive time of year – from school supplies to indoor/outdoor sneakers and everything in between, the costs add up. With more and more families struggling to make ends meet, this is a meaningful way to lend a helping hand.”
Oxford County families with a child registered at a local school within the Thames Valley District School Board, London District Catholic School Board, and Conseil Scolaire Catholique Providence can register to get a gift card. The gift cards will be distributed by the schools during the first week of the school year.
Those who want to donate, or those who are in need, can visit the United Way Oxford website to find out how to go about donating or registering for the program.
