Crown Says Witness Testimony Nearing End

It?s been Seven weeks and twenty-five days and witness testimony is nearing completion at the Michael Rafferty murder trial in London. Crown Attorney Kevin Gowdey and Assistant Crown Michael Carnegie told Superior Court Justice Thomas Heeney they are way ahead of their schedule and expect to finish up by as early as the end of April. During last week?s testimony the Crown called several different witnesses to the stand ? many former girlfriend?s of Rafferty?s who testified they dated him before, during and after 8 year old Tori Stafford was abducted, sexually assaulted and murdered April 8, 2009. At least 4 Woodstock residents who either live or lived on Rafferty?s former Tennyson Street address testified last Thursday how Rafferty had put a back bench seat of a car out for spring clean-up in April of 2009 ? Police never found the back seat that is believed to have been taken out of Rafferty?s 2003 blue Honda Civic. In earlier testimony, Rafferty?s accused, 21 year Terri-Lynne McClintic, said she was instructed by Raffferty to cut out sections of the back seat of the Honda where blood stains would not wash out as the two made their way back to Woodstock April 8th along the 401. Rafferty?s former boss was the last witness to testify Friday. John Cruickshank, Owner of the landscaping company ?Outdoor Services?, said Rafferty worked for him in April 2006. He told the jury Rafferty worked with a small team of employees installing mulch, cutting perennials and removing bush near land fill sites north of Guelph in the communities of Rothsay, Harriston and Riverstown. Tori Stafford?s remains were found buried in a remote area under a pile of rocks just a few kilometers east of Riverstown. The trial resumes at 10am.
