Cycles of Life will be hosting a Stuff the Bus food drive for its community outreach tables this Saturday in the Scott's No Frills parking lot.
WOODSTOCK - Cycles of Life is looking for donations for its community outreach tables.
They provide food, clothing, and hygiene products to people in need.
Co-Founder Tim Smith says they first took over the Woodstock table in the summer of 2019 and the program has expanded since then.
"We added a table in Ingersoll at the end of 2019, we added Tillsonburg in 2021 I believe and we've been growing since. Woodstock went from two days per week and at one point we were at four days per week. We're at three days per week now."
The Woodstock table is located at College Ave Church from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The Tillsonburg table is located at the Upper Deck on Queen Street from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, and the Ingersoll table is available from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. also on Tuesdays.
When Cycles of Life first took over the Woodstock table, Smith says they helped up to 63 people in one day. The need has increased dramatically since then.
"Our record now in Woodstock, we have helped 183 people in one day. That is in a two-hour period, so we're not talking about a lot of time. It's quite busy."
The Ingersoll table has helped up to 54 people in one day and over 90 people have visited the Tillsonburg table in a single day.
A Stuff the Bus fundraiser will be taking place in the Scott's No Frills parking lot on Saturday August 12th from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The City of Woodstock has donated a city bus for the event, and Smith would like to fill it with donations of non-perishable food items and personal hygiene products.
