Norwich Township will release their nomination forms for the next municipal election in May.
NORWICH TOWNSHIP - The municipal election is coming up fast, which means we could have new mayors and councillors in Oxford County.
If you want to immerse yourself into the local government scene, Norwich Township will be accepting nomination forms for council, mayor and school trustees starting in May. The submission deadline will be July 27th.
CAO Clerk Kyle Kruger says there's a new requirement this time around.
"Nomination forms must be endorsed by at least 25 eligible electors for municipal councils."
Kruger talks about the other requirements.
"You must be a resident in the area or a non-resident, owner or tenant of land or the spouse of such."
You also have to be a legal voter in the Township.
There's also a $200 submission fee for mayor and a $100 fee for councillor or school trustee. You're not allowed to spend money or raise money for your campaign until you are a registered candidate.
