Election season is in full swing and already signs have been tampered with in Brant County.
The County of Brant has issued a release reminding residents that it is illegal to remove or tamper with election signs.
Signs put up lawfully cannot be moved, damaged or removed without the consent of the candidate or property owner. Manager of Council Services Heather Boyd says the issue has already come up a few times.
"We have received complaints that election signs have been removed from private property."
The removal or destruction of election signs is a criminal offence and should be reported to the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police at 519.442.2242.
Concerns regarding potential violations of the election sign by-law can be reported to the County of Brant Bylaw Enforcement at 519.449.2451.
