Two decades of service in policing. That's the milestone that both Sergeant Marvin Massecar (left) and Deputy Chief Daryl Longworth (right) have reached. They received Exemplary Service Medals for their dedication. Longworth says it's an honour: "I'm just thrilled that I've been able to serve for 20 years. I mean, 20 years seems to have gone by very quickly. I don't think any of us got into this job to be awarded or recognize, just to serve the community and do your best to try and make the world a better place." Longworth has worked on a number of high profile homicide cases as well as in the Drug and Intelligence Unit. He says the highlight was a three year investigation into the Outlaws Motorcycle Gang. Sergeant Massecar said it means a great deal to receive the medal as well. Over his years as an officer, he's worked for the Waterloo Regional Police in the Traffic Branch and the Hit and Run Investigations Unit. He moved to the area in 1999. "There's been a lot of different things that certainly I could point to, but I think being able to be apart of our Motorcycle Unit is one of the big highlights for me," said Massecar. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2004.
