The Woodstock Museum and the Women's Employment Resource Centre are exploring the history of women in medicine.
WOODSTOCK - A free event in Woodstock will shine a light on how women have influenced medicine over the years.
In honour of Women's History Month the Women's Employment Resource Centre is presenting Her-Story.
Heather Davies tells Heart FM about some of the speakers at the event.
"One is going to talk about Dr. Emily Stowe and another speaker is going to talk about women's role in medicine and medical science."
Dr. Emily Stowe was a Norwich native who went on to become the first Canadian woman to practice medicine in the country, obtaining her licence in 1880.
Davies adds although the event is free to attend, people should book their spots ahead of time.
"We have a limited amount of seating for this particular event so you can call the Women's Employment Resource Centre (519-421-2077) and book a spot or you can go onto Eventbrite.ca and they have our event on there and you can register on that website as well."
Her-Story will take place at the Woodstock Museum Thursday October 20th with the doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and everything getting underway at 7 p.m.
