Farewell to Old Theatre Flowers

Old Theatre Flowers is getting ready to close up shop after serving Norwich Township for almost 33 years.

NORWICH - The owners of Old Theatre Flowers in Norwich are getting ready to close up shop; for good.

Pat McNally and Don Bruce started their flower business in 1985. They were located in an old movie theatre building at 35 Main Street West, so they decided to name the shop Old Theatre Flowers. They moved to their current location at 3 Main Street in October 2009 when the neighbouring deli decided to expand their business.

McNally says the business has played a role in the major life moments for a lot of Norwich residents throughout the years.

"We've seen kids born, go to school, have families, have grandchildren and lose members of their family. A lot happens in 32 and a half years."

Old Theatre Flowers will officially shut down after September 30th of this year. They will continue to offer their fresh flower plants until their last week of business.

McNally tells Heart FM they are closing the shop in order to enjoy what he calls a "semi-retirement."

"I am going to take some time off just to relax, enjoy life and do a bit of local travelling that you never seem to get to do because you are always busy at your job. Then I'll see what I might want to do in the New Year, I'm going to be 63 so there's a couple years that I'd like to fill in with something casual where I don't have to use my brain too much!"
