Voters in Oxford County and across the rest of country will be heading to the polls today.
CANADA - After a 36-day federal election campaign, voters across Canada will be heading to the polls today.
Election Day has finally arrived and Canadians will be casting their ballots for our 44th Parliament. There are 338 seats up for grabs, with 170 needed to form a majority government.
There's a chance we might not even know the results this evening. Election officials won't start counting a million special mail-in ballots until tomorrow, because all of them will need to be verified to make sure no one voted twice. This means we might not know the results for four days if it's a tight race.
Six-million ballots were cast during advanced polls and they will be counted with today's in-person ballots later this evening.
We have six candidates here in Oxford County; Conservative Dave MacKenzie, the NDP's Matthew Chambers, Liberal Elizabeth Quinto, Wendy Martin with the PPC, the Green Party's Bob Reid and Allen Scovil with the Christian Heritage Party.
